Employing 650 IT professionals, Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) is an IT-driven organization. DUO has its own software house where hundreds of custom-made applications are built. These applications could be for payments of student grants, organizing civic integration examinations, funding educational institutions, or tasks relating to the final exam taken by students completing their primary education (CITO). The software house has various units, one of which is Requirements Engineering (RE).
Interactive knowledge session
RE is the process of defining, documenting, and maintaining the requirements of the software development process. DUO’s Digital Inhouse interactive session will be all about RE, and will cover current themes relevant to the field. You will learn about what the work entails in practice and the things to take into account when developing a new and large-scale application for millions of users from scratch.
You can attend the online session individually, or as a duo (😊).
Escape room
The final thirty minutes of the session will be devoted to a digital escape room!
Imagine - you are on the 24th floor of the DUO building, and the door closes behind you. You try to open it, but realize it is locked.
You feel a shiver go down your spine - how are you going to escape from the building which, because of the pandemic, is almost completely empty?
Time to get your thinking cap on and find your way out!

The prizes are courtesy of Awesome Makes. The escape room kit consists of an Arduino, a manual and accessories supporting the escape room narrative. By following the instructions in the manual, you will be drawn into the narrative as a builder and be able solve the puzzles with the electronics provided.
